Faery
Tale
My
story begins in a time I no longer remember
Was a friendship I never want to forget.
I had many companions told to me the day of my birth
Youth, Innocence and Happiness were my favourite friends
And wherever they were came their friend, Laughter
They were always with me no matter where I went
No matter what, I was always content.
As a child, I envied my superiors
They were free and independent
They always seemed perfect and sleek
Never did I see them weak
They told me age would make me wiser.
It was this jealousy that lost me my friendship
It was this jealousy that made me ask my companions to leave me be
But everytime I made the request, they would always reply
"We may have our own secrets to hide
But as your friends, we would never leave your side."
Then came my 12th birthday which brought me their gift
Together they said
"We grant you one wish
All that is in our power
Make that one wish
We will grant it within the hour."
To this I replied
"I have all but one wish for you to leave me be
You were there since the birth of my soul
Though I wish you still visit me
Your departure would make me whole."
"Your wish makes us sad
But your wish we shall grant
Remember this, our warning
Our presence will almost never be felt again."
And with that, they left.
My life without them was never the same
I began to sense other beings around me
I made new companions
Loneliness, who I could never see
Danger, who would never leave me be
But I missed the ones who welcomed me.
Youth still visited me frequently
But his visits soon became further and further apart
I almost never saw Happiness
Who was said to have a broken heart
Innocence came once
But soon was gone forever
The one friend that came and went
Is still my old friend, Laughter.
And so began a part of my life which I regret
A life of loneliness in a world of terror
But my old friends, I would never forget
For now, I laugh in the face of danger
Never have I lived a life of such regret
Ever since I lost my friendship in a wish of wonder.
