I
saw the world today
She
stared at me in question and wonder
Her eyes asked me a million questions
For all which I had no answer
She stared at me accusingly
A part of herself began to fade
A part of herself fell away
I watched her eyes scream at me
I watched a part of her die inside me
I saw her as a child
Crying as the winds lashed at her
I dropped to my knees and felt my tears fall
I tried to wipe them away
But each wipe left a dark red stain on my hands
I reached out my hands to her
I watched her slowly turn to smoke
And I held my face in my hands, crying
Slowly, I got onto my feet
Slowly, I turned around
Slowly, I walked away from the mirror.
